You can add visual images or banner sections to the Mobile Dashboard to highlight content, direct users to key areas, or create a clear visual structure. Image sections can be placed anywhere below the fixed dashboard sections and targeted to specific user groups. You need "Manage features" permission to create image sections for the dashboard.
You can create multiple image/banner sections. Each section appears on the dashboard only if activated and is visible only to the users it has been targeted to.
Step 1: Create a new image section
- Go to Administration > Mobile > Mobile Dashboard.
- Under Available sections, next to Image, choose Add.
- Choose a layout. After the section is saved for the first time, your selected layout is locked and cannot be changed for this section. You can choose between:
- Single image: No set aspect ratio or dimensions, but the minimum height is 54 px.
- Two images: Aspect ratio 1:1. Example dimensions: 1080 x 1080 px.
- Masonry grid: Image 1 and 4: Aspect ratio 3:2. Example dimensions: 1080 x 720 px. Image 2 and 3: Aspect ratio 4:5. Example dimensions: 1080 x 1350 px.
- Select Next.
Step 2: Define settings
- Enter a Section title. The title is internal, so you can identify the section in the Administration.
- Define an Audience. Choose whether the section is visible to everyone or only to specific user groups. If a section is only visible to certain groups, only users who belong to those groups can see it on the dashboard.
Step 3: Configure images
Adding images is optional; you can also choose a simple colored background with text. Regardless, you need to configure each image/banner individually by selecting the Image X tabs.
- Upload Image(s) from your computer. You will be prompted to crop each image if it doesn't fit the required aspect ratio. The file must be in JPG or PNG format and should not exceed 10MB in size.
- Define a Background color to be used for transparent PNG images or when you use no images.
- Enter descriptive text in the Alternative text field (Optional). Screen readers can read the alt text, making the image's content accessible to people with visual or cognitive impairments.
Step 4: Add text or links
Adding text or links to your images/banners is optional. To include text or links, configure each image/banner separately.
- Add Text to overlay on your image/banner. The text appears at the bottom-left corner, with line breaks respected.
- Choose a suitable Text color for readability.
- Add a Link. Internal links to locations on your intranet will open in the mobile app through deep links when supported. External URLs will open in the in‑app browser.
A live preview shows how the section looks on smaller devices. The preview simulates a compact phone screen to help you evaluate text length and spacing. The numbers in the images aren't visible on the dashboard; they're only visible in the preview.
Step 5: Finalize
- Once you're done with your section, select Done to save it.
- After saving, the section appears at the top of the section overview in the Administration. You can reorder and deactivate the section as described in Managing sections for the mobile Dashboard.
- To make your new section visible on the Mobile Dashboard, make sure it's activated and save the settings using Save changes in the bottom‑right corner.
Once you've activated and saved your section, it will appear on the dashboard for the targeted users.
If you need to edit or delete the section, you can select next to it in the list to access the settings.
