Blocking file uploads and downloads in the White Label Mobile App

For your White Label Mobile App, you have the option to block file uploads and downloads either across the entire app or specifically within the chat to or from the user's mobile device. This stops users from uploading or downloading images, files, and other content types from the app or chat. It also prevents them from copying, pasting, or sharing content to or from other apps.

If you want to enable file upload and/or download for your White Label Mobile App, open a ticket in our Service Desk and specify which options you'd like to use.

Available options

There are four options available. You can select one or multiple:

Option Description
Restrict Chat Upload
  • Removes the "Upload media" buttons in the chat.
  • Android only: Removes the Haiilo App from showing up in the OS-native sharing flow. See limitation #1.
  • iOS: Pasting images is disabled.
  • Sending voice messages is still supported.
Restrict Chat Download
  • Removes the Share button in the image and file preview. See limitation #2.
  • Removes the "Copy" option when long-pressing an attachment.
Restrict App Upload
  • Removes the "Upload media" buttons when creating a new timeline post or writing a comment.
Restrict App Download
  • Removes the Share button in the image and file preview. See limitation #2.

Limitations

  1. Your white label app will be visible on Android inside the native Share flow until the user opens the app for the first time. After that, it won't appear anymore. Regardless, sharing a file won't work because the user isn't logged in if they haven't ever opened the app.
  2. File previews if sharing is disable:
    • Android: Previews are only available for PDFs, images, and videos. Any other file type (e.g., docx, pptx) will show a warning that previews are not available.
    • iOS: We support previews of more file types. If a file type is not supported, the same warning as Android is shown.
  3. Uploading a file is still supported in the Form app when a file input field is included.
