The Studio Editor is a simple and user-friendly tool that enables you to easily create, edit, and add content to Multichannel posts or newsletters without requiring advanced technical skills. Additionally, you can paste content from external sources into the Studio editor, and it will respect the content and its formatting and styling.
The toolbar in the Studio editor offers formatting, alignment, and content options. It also allows you to undo and redo your recent changes. For easier explanation in this article, we've divided it into these sections:
- Formatting: You can easily change your text to bold or italic. Additionally, you can, among other things, change the font size and text color. You can customize the color using available colors or enter a hex code. Lastly, you can define your text as usual or a heading variant.
- Alignment: You can align your text or add bullet or numbered lists.
- Content: You can enhance your content by adding images, videos, dividers, etc., and direct users to other locations using hyperlinks. Additionally, when creating an email newsletter, you can use 2- or 3-column grids, insert placeholders, etc., and link to published blog articles or studio posts. These options are only available for email newsletters.
- Actions: Lastly, you can add comments to a post or newsletter that will be visible internally in the editor when it's in review, and undo and redo your recent changes.
Formatting
- Paragraph format: Format text by changing its type. By default, your text is Normal text, but you can change it to Heading 1 or Heading 2. Formatting changes at least the font size, weight, and margin.
- Bold: Make your text bold. You can also bold text using the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl + B on Windows or Cmd + B on Mac.
- Italic: Make your text italic or cursive. You can also italic text using the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl + I on Windows or Cmd + I on Mac.
- Font size: Choose a size from a list of default font sizes. If you want to create a heading, we recommend using the Paragraph format option instead of changing the font size.
- Text color: Choose a color from a list of default colors. Alternatively, you can use the color picker to define a custom color, e.g., by inputting a HEX code.
Alignment
- Align (left, center, right): Change the alignment of your text and content.
- Number list: Add a numbered or ordered list. A sub-list can be added by indenting the following line. The numbering style follows this logic: 1, 2, 3 is used for the first list item, the first indented list item uses letters (a, b, c), the second indented list item uses Roman numerals (i, ii, iii), the third indented list item uses uppercase letters (A, B, C), and all following indentations use uppercase Roman numerals (I, II, III).
- Bullet list: Add a bullet or unordered list. A sub-list can be added by indenting the following line. The bullet style is always a circle.
Content
- Image: Insert an image. Images have an upload limit of 25MB. The supported formats are JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, WebP, and AVIF. You can also add a link to an image, allowing you to direct the user to another location.
- Video: Insert a video. Videos have an upload limit of 2GB. The supported formats are WebM and MPEG-4/H.264. Note that videos aren't supported in email newsletters.
- Link: Insert a link to guide users to another location. You can decide if the link opens in the current browser window or a new tab. You can also add a link using the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl + K on Windows or Cmd + K on Mac.
- Horizontal line: Insert a grey divider line that spans the entire editor. A divider serves as a visual cue and can help you organize your content to ensure its readability.
- Emoji: Insert an emoji to make your post more engaging. Emojis add a touch of fun and expressiveness to your post. It's important to remember that when selecting email as a channel or sending out an email newsletter, not all emojis are supported across all email clients.
- Block quote: Add a quote box. A quote box is distinguished by a grey line and italic text. A quote can be used to set specific text apart from the rest of the content.
Content available for newsletters only
- Link button: Add a button. You can define the text inside the button, the URL it leads to, and whether it should open in a new tab. The button uses your theme's button colors.
-
Columns: You can add a two- or three-column layout to your email so that you'll be able to provide multiple pieces of content on the same row, e.g., two blog articles next to each other instead of one under the other.
- Note! If your organization primarily uses the Microsoft Outlook desktop app for email, we recommend using a single-column layout for your newsletters. This design enhances readability and ensures that your content appears at its best, providing a smooth experience for your recipients
- Blog article: You can add a published blog article you have access to to your email. The article title, teaser text, and image will be displayed in the email. When users click on the article in the email they receive, they will be taken to the article on your platform.
- Multichannel post: You can add a published Multichannel post to your email. The post title, teaser text, and image will be displayed in the email. When users click on a post in the email they receive, it will open on your platform. However, if the user was not included in the multichannel post's target audience, they won't have access to the full post.
- Placeholder: You can add placeholders to personalize the message. The available placeholder fields are First name and Last name. The actual information of the recipient will dynamically fill this field. The metadata is taken from a user's profile on your platform. For example, if you select {firstName}, a user will see their own first name populated in that place when they read the newsletter.

- Redo: Redo your recently undone action. You can also use the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl + Y on Windows or Cmd + Y on Mac.
