Kudos are a great way to acknowledge a colleague's achievements or express appreciation for their work and support. Giving kudos helps to highlight a colleague's contributions and foster a culture of appreciation within your team.
You can send kudos to someone in a timeline post. Additionally, kudos are collected in a Kudos tab within each user's profile. To send kudos, the feature needs to be activated, and you need to have the "Create timeline items" permission. Currently, kudos posts aren't available on the mobile app.
For general information on the timeline and creating timeline posts, read Timeline overview and Creating timeline posts.
Send kudos
- Go to the timeline on which you want to post
- Select the text box at the top of a timeline element
- Select the icon to start your kudos. While you're creating kudos, you can see a preview of what they will look like when sent.
- Write a message to accompany your kudos. Your message will show inside the kudos box under your colleagues' profile images.
- Kudos always include an accompanying "creator_name appreciates/celebrates/recognizes recipient_name(s)" message that is displayed on top of the kudos. The recipients are automatically mentioned in this message to ensure they are notified of your kudos.
- Select the user(s) you want to send kudos to. You can select one or multiple users.
- Select the kudos theme you want to use: Appreciate, Celebrate, or Recognize.
- Optionally, you can configure your post and its settings before sending it, e.g., choosing to submit the kudos as a page or community you manage.
- Select Post to send your kudos.
You can edit your kudos message after it's been sent, but not the theme or targeted colleagues.
If you send kudos on a private page or community's timeline, only subscribers or members of that page or community can see them. This means if you select a colleague in a kudos post who doesn't subscribe to the private page on which you are posting, the colleague won't be notified or see the kudos on their profile.
Receive kudos
When someone sends kudos to you, you receive a notification about your kudos. The kudos are visible on the timeline where they were posted and collected in a Kudos tab within your user profile, creating a dedicated space where all the Kudos you've received can be easily accessed and cherished by anyone.
On your Kudos tab, you can view the number of kudos you've received by theme, as well as a list of all kudos posts you've received, including their content and a link to access the original post.
