Commenting or mentioning

You can provide feedback on content by leaving comments or replying to others' comments to continue the discussion. Also, you can mention or tag specific users or public pages and communities to notify relevant users or page/community admins. You need the "Write comments" permission to create comments, including mentions.

If you have "Delete comments" permission, you can delete your own comments. If you're an admin of an element, you can also delete other users' comments from that element.

You can mention only public pages and communities, not private or protected ones.

Comment on content

You can comment on timeline posts (including Studio posts), blog articles, wiki articles, files, list items, and other comments.

  1. Find content that you want to comment on.
  2. Select the comment field.
  3. Write your comment. You can also add mentions in your comment.
  4. Press Enter to send.

Any users subscribed to the content are notified of your comment. You are also automatically subscribed to the content to receive notifications of future updates.

You can initially see only the two most recent comments on an element. Selecting Show more comments will show additional comments. Replies to comments are also hidden at first, but you can select Show X replies to expand them. Additionally, on timeline posts and blog articles, comments that are longer than ~550 characters will be shortened, and you can select Read more to see the full comment.

You can edit your comment until someone reacts to it, replies to it, or adds a new comment below yours. This helps keep comments consistent and fair, preventing edits that alter the original message after others have interacted with it.

Did you write an important comment? If you have permission, you can pin it to the top of the comment section for better visibility. Learn more in Pinning comments.

Mention a user, page, or community in content

You can add mentions in timeline posts (including Studio posts), the rich text editor (including in blog and wiki articles), forum threads, and comments.

  1. Find content where you want to add a mention.
  2. Select the field.
  3. Enter @ followed by part of the user's or page/community's name, then select your desired option from the drop-down. You can also write a comment to accompany your mention.
  4. Press Enter to send.

Users and page or community admins receive notifications when mentioned in timeline posts, forum threads, or comments. Mentions inside the rich text editor of blog and wiki articles don't currently trigger notifications for anyone mentioned.

Users aren't automatically subscribed to the content to receive notifications of future updates. They need to manually subscribe to the post to receive other updates.

When mentioning a page or community, only its admins are notified, not all subscribers or members.
