Once you've set up a blog app, you can create articles in it. First, you can work with a draft of the blog article, and when you're ready, you can publish it.
You can provide your blog articles in multiple languages or, if your platform uses automatic translations, let your users machine translate them to their preferred language when they're reading them.
Depending on the app's authoring and publishing settings, you may need to be an admin of the page or community to create drafts and publish blog articles. You may also be allowed to create blog drafts but not publish them.
Create a blog draft
- Select Write new blog article to start a new article.
- Give your article a meaningful title that best reflects its content.
- Provide a brief teaser text that is displayed on the timeline and summarizes the article's message.
- Write the content for your article in the rich text editor. You can also select Switch to advanced mode to add widgets and adjust the layout to expand the article further. Learn more in Adding widgets.
- Upload teaser images or use the default ones selected in the app configuration. The selected images need aspect ratios of 1:1 and 3:1, respectively.
- The 1:1 image is used in the blog app overview, when the blog is shared on the timeline, and when reading the blog article in the browser, if selected.
- The 3:1 image is used in widgets and on the mobile app.
- Check if you want the teaser to appear at the top of the article when you read it. If unchecked, your article will begin immediately with the individual content you created.
- Add Hashtags to complement your article and make it easier to find.
- Select Save to save your blog draft and exit the editor. This allows you to preview what the article will look like when published.
Optionally, you might be able to provide your article in other languages. Learn more in Providing blog articles in multiple languages.
When you're ready to publish your article, you can proceed to the next steps.
Publish a blog article
- In the article editor, select the Publish tab.
- If you've exited the editor, you can go back to it by selecting > Edit
- Choose whether to publish the article immediately or at a predefined date. You can select to notify the audience via the notification bell and a mobile app push notification.
- Select the author of the article: you or the name of the page or community in which the app is installed. To select the latter option, you need "Act in the name of a page, community, or event (locally)" permission.
- Unless commenting is disabled for the blog app, choose to Show or Hide comments, effectively allowing or not allowing comments on the article. After publishing, you can edit the article to change your preference.
- Define the archiving date for your article. If you've defined an auto-archiving timeframe in the app configuration, a date is automatically set according to the timeframe, but you can manually change it, if necessary.
- Select Publish and your article is published or scheduled per your choice in step 2.
After your blog article is published, users can view the article on the platform. Depending on your selections and the app configuration, they might be notified or can find the article on the timeline.
