Publishing Multichannel posts

Once you have created a Multichannel post, you can publish it or submit it for approval. Your available actions will vary based on your permissions.

You can unpublish published posts to remove them from platform areas and Slack and MS Teams. Learn more in Unpublishing Studio posts.

Publish a post

You generally need the "Publish posts" permission to publish posts without approval. However, if you are targeting the post only to the Page(s) you are an admin of, you can publish it without approval or "Publish posts" permission.

  1. Select Review & publish in the editor toolbar
  2. Review the preview and your configured settings
  3. Select Publish now to publish your post. If you need to make changes, select Back.

Schedule a post

To publish posts without approval, you need the "Publish posts" permission.

  1. Enable Schedule for later
  2. Select a date and time for your post to be published
  3. Select Review & schedule in the editor toolbar
  4. Review the preview and your configured settings
  5. Select Schedule now to publish your post. If you need to make changes, select Back.

Alternatively, a draft post can be scheduled by dragging and dropping it in the Calendar.

You can see your scheduled posts in Dashboard > My work > Scheduled or in the Calendar on the day the post is set to be published. Before the post is published, you can Cancel publishing by opening the post in the editor.

Request approval for a post

A user without publish permission submits their post for approval before it can be published.

Before you submit your post for approval, you can set a date and time you'd wish for it to be published by enabling Schedule for later. If you set a scheduled date and time, the post is automatically published at this date and time after it is approved. If you don't set a scheduled date and time, you need to manually publish the post after approval.

  1. Select Review & send for approval in the editor toolbar
  2. Review the preview and your configured settings
  3. Select Send for approval. If you need to make changes, select Back.
  4. Choose an approver for your post. A post can only have one approver.
  5. Select Send for approval to submit

You can see your posts awaiting approval in Dashboard > My work > Under approval. You can, at any point during the approval process, Withdraw the post to make additional changes to it. If you withdraw it, you need to submit it for approval again.

An admin can't change the content or settings of your post, so if they want changes to be made to it, they can comment on it and reject it for you to make changes before resubmitting it for approval.

Publish an approved post

After an admin approves your post, the following steps depend on whether you scheduled it before submitting it for approval.

  • A scheduled post is queued for publishing automatically according to your schedule. You can see it in Dashboard > My work > Scheduled.
  • An unscheduled post needs to be published manually.
    1. Find and open the post in Dashboard > Tasks for today > Ready for publishing
    2. Select Publish now to publish the post immediately.

You cannot make changes to an approved post unless you withdraw it from approval. Doing so means you'll have to resubmit it for approval again.
