Creating "Cards" hero teasers

A Cards hero teaser features one main news item alongside smaller secondary ones, enabling users to view multiple updates at once and slide to see more. The number of cards visible at once without sliding depends on the computer screen size.

A hero teaser can be added to a homepage or the mobile app Dashboard. You need the "Manage hero teasers" permission to create and manage hero teasers.

Enabling moderator mode doesn't override the card targeting. When you activate moderator mode, you'll still only see the cards assigned to you.

1. Set up a cards hero teaser

  1. Select Manage hero teaser from your user profile drop-down.
  2. Select Create new hero teaser > Cards.
  3. Enter a name for your hero teaser. This helps you identify it when adding it to a homepage.

2. Create a primary card

The primary card should display your most important and global news item. It is fixed and cannot be moved or removed. It is visible to all users and cannot be targeted to specific groups.

  1. Upload an image for the card. The primary card image should be in a ratio of 2:1, e.g., 1200 × 599px.
  2. Enter descriptive text in the Alternative text field (Optional). Screen readers can read the alt text, making the image's content accessible to people with visual or cognitive impairments.
  3. Enter a Headline that will serve as the main information on your card (Optional). The headline appears at the bottom of the card image. If your card image is light, a darker shadow will be added to ensure the text is visible.
  4. Enter a Subline for any complimentary description to accompany your card headline (Optional). This will be displayed below the headline in a smaller font size.
  5. Enter a Link that the user will be directed to when clicking on the card (Optional but recommended). You can also choose whether the link opens in a new tab.

3. Create secondary cards

Add secondary cards alongside your primary card, featuring smaller news topics that may be regional or departmental. These secondary cards can be tailored to different user groups. You can include multiple secondary cards without any limit. For optimal visibility, we suggest 3-6 cards per user group.

  1. Upload an image for the card. The secondary card image should be in a ratio of 4:5, e.g., 480 × 599px.
  2. Define the teaser's Audience. By selecting Customize, you can target secondary cards to specific user groups. Only users in those selected groups will see the secondary card in the hero teaser. By default, a card is visible to Everyone.
  3. Enter descriptive text in the Alternative text field (Optional).
  4. Enter a Headline (Optional).
  5. Enter a Subline (Optional).
  6. Enter a Link that the user will be directed to when clicking on the card (Optional but recommended). You can also choose whether the link opens in a new tab.

If you have multiple secondary cards, you can organize them within the hero teaser using the ❮ ❯ icons or remove them by the delete icon.png icon.

4. Save the hero teaser

  1. When you've finished creating your cards. select Save at the top right to create your hero teaser.
