Generating AI-powered summaries for wiki articles new

AI-powered summaries help you understand articles more quickly. You can generate either a summary of key takeaways or a simplified explanation of the article's content. You can use this feature on the browser version of your platform and in the mobile app.

You can generate AI-powered summaries of a wiki article while viewing the full article.

To use AVA Blog and Wiki Summary, the feature needs to be enabled for your platform.

Options: Summarize and Explain

  • Summarize (TL;DR): Generates a concise summary of the article's most important takeaways as bullet points. Use it to quickly understand the key messages and decide whether to read the full article.
  • Explain (ELI5): Rewrites the article in plain language to make complex topics easier to understand. It simplifies concepts and terminology while staying true to the original content.

Generate a summary or explanation

  1. Find an article.
  2. Select Simplify.
  3. Select the Summarize or Explain tabs to switch between the summary options.
  4. Review the generated summary.
  5. Select X to close. Optionally, use the up or down thumb icons to provide feedback on the generated result.

Good to know

  • The summary or explanation is generated in the language of the article you're viewing.
  • On pages/communities with multi-language enabled, the selected article language is used. On pages/communities without multi-language, the content language is detected automatically.
  • If you use automatic translation, the generated result is translated together with the article content.
  • Summaries and explanations are generated only from text-based content, such as paragraphs, lists, and quotes. Images, videos, files, and forms aren't included.
  • If an article doesn't contain enough text, a summary or explanation can't be generated.
