Plug-ins are independent small web applications hosted separately from Haiilo. So they are technical extensions of Haiilo that communicate via the plug-in API.
In Haiilo, they are treated as widgets, made available through the widget catalog. They can be used in homepages, as global widgets or on pages and communities as local widgets or in an app e.g. blog, content or wiki. So you can easily extend your digital home with the help of a plug-in.
Requirements
To use plug-ins in Haiilo, your Haiilo must be hosted either in the cloud or private cloud. A Haiilo hosted OnPremise cannot use plug-ins.
Purchase plug-ins
Via our Haiilo Marketplace, we offer you a portfolio of ready-to-use plug-ins. Please contact your account manager if you want to purchase one or more plug-ins.
Add plug-ins
Once you have purchased one of the plug-ins via the Haiilo Marketplace, you need to add it to your Haiilo Home. Afterward, the plug-in will behave like widgets.
Adding and activating plug-ins is done in the administration under the menu item Features > Widgets > Add Plug-ins which can be seen when the permission"Administration of Plug-ins" is granted.
Afterward, a dialog opens where you have to enter the link to your Manifest URL.
Now go to the Haiilo Home area where you want to embed the plug-in and activate the "Edit layout" mode. At the desired position, select your plug-in from the widget catalog using the green + symbol.
After the selection, the respective setting options of the plug-ins follow.
Develop plug-ins
In principle, you can program plug-ins on your own with our developer guide. If you have questions while developing a plug-in, you can consult the discussion area of the guide.
FAQ
Who can develop plug-ins?
Everyone can basically develop plug-ins for Haiilo. All you need is technical know-how and follow the guidelines described in the plug-in documentation.
Note:
Haiilo's service desk doesn't support your developed plug-ins.
How do plug-ins of the Haiilo marketplace get updated?
Plug-ins are generally updated in the background by updating the content of the manifest URL from the provider of the plug-in. This will also update the plug-in in your Haiilo.
Note:

In the unlikely event that a plug-in stops working after an Haiilo update, we automatically disable it.
How do we ensure plug-in quality for plug-ins from the Haiilo marketplace?
