Using an Events app

The Events app displays events hosted by the page or community that the user has permission to access. This could be because the user has been invited to a private event or because the event is public. In the app, page or community admins can create events, with the community or page automatically set as the host. Deleting an Events app doesn't delete the events displayed in it.

For information on showing your app's name in other languages, read Providing app names in other languages. However, the events in an events app are the same across all languages.

Set up the app

After adding an Events app, you can configure the following settings:

  • Name: Give your app a meaningful name that best reflects its topic and use case.
  • Activate this app: Activate the app immediately or leave it in the deactivated mode. A deactivated app is only visible to page or community admins. Learn more in Activating and deactivating apps.
  • URL: By default, the URL is generated from the app's name, but you can change it to something else. Any old links leading to the app won't work anymore after you change it.

You can only add one Events app per page or community, as multiple Events apps would show the same events.

Create an event

Page or community admins can create events in the Events app by selecting Create event. Events created from an Events app have the Host automatically filled as the page or community from which it is created.

Events can also be created as regular from Events in the navigation bar, and the host set manually to the page or community.

You can find instructions on creating events in Creating events.
