Using groups in the permissions and roles system

When providing permission to a user, you are specifying what actions they are authorized to perform. A role is determined by a combination of various permissions.

In addition to the permissions and roles concept, you can further subdivide your employees by creating groups.

How groups work

Groups are helpful intermediaries. After all, no one wants to specify individually which permissions each user should have. Groups make it easy for you: They allow you to assign one or more roles to a larger number of users. Your advantage: This enables you to easily and clearly manage the permissions and visibilities for a larger number of users.

Within the user interface, the concept of groups also makes it easier to invite your users to pages and communities.

Instead of individually inviting every sales employee, you thus have the option of inviting the "Sales" group as a whole to a community.

Tips:
  1. In Haiilo, you have the option of only giving certain users the permission to access groups. The permission "Invite groups to a community/page/event" could thus be reserved for team leaders, for example, to guarantee better user management.

  2. An additional benefit is available if you have connected a user directory. With a corresponding configuration, you can see the different groups directly in Haiilo and develop dedicated roles for them, which correspond to the desired tasks and functions within Haiilo.
