You can share various types of content on your platform, such as timeline posts, blog articles, wiki articles, events, and more, with other users, pages, or communities. This is useful for drawing attention to important content and increasing its visibility.
You share content using the Share option on the content. Content can be shared on the timeline or as a push notification, depending on your permissions and intended audience.
Basics of sharing
When you share content, who sees it depends on where you share it.
If users have subscribed to or are members of the element you shared the content with, they become part of the audience that receives the share. For example, if you share a post with a page, it is sent to or becomes visible to that page's subscribers.
When someone comments on or reacts to shared content on the timeline, the interaction remains linked to the original content. Comments and reactions appear under the original post rather than the share itself. This ensures all engagement stays connected to the original content and remains accessible in one place.

Depending on your permissions, you might be able to share content on the timeline or as a push notification:

Share private content
Timeline sharing
Sharing protected or private content on the timeline creates a public preview of that content.
When content is shared from a private area to a public one, such as sharing a post from a private page to a public page, the teaser of the original content becomes visible to all subscribers of that public area. Also, any optional message you add during sharing will be visible.
The visibility of the shared content depends on the content type:

Users without permission to access the original content cannot open it. If they attempt to do so, they receive a message explaining that they do not have access.
Push notification sharing
Push notifications are sent only to users who have access to the shared content, no matter who the recipients are. For example, when sharing a post from a private community to a public page, only those who can see the private post will receive notifications.
