Chat overview

With our chat feature, users can engage in private or group conversations with other users. The chat can be conveniently accessed on the right side of the browser window or through the mobile app navigation.

If you cannot see the chat on your platform, it is currently disabled for you.

Features

These are the features of the chat:

  • Managing global chat settings: As an admin, you can set global settings to automatically archive group channels and delete messages. Learn more in this article:
  • Starting 1-1 or private chats: You can start a private or 1-1 chat to communicate directly with another user. This chat will be exclusively between you and the other user. Learn more in this article:
  • Staring group chat channels: You can message multiple users at once by opening a group channel with them. When you create a group channel, you automatically become its admin. Learn more in this article:
  • Muting chats: You can mute a chat, which will suppress all notifications from that specific conversation. Once muted, the chat will remain silent until you choose to unmute it. Learn more in this article:

  • Deleting chat messages: You can delete your own chat messages. Once you've deleted a message, it's replaced with a notification indicating that a previously sent message has been deleted. Learn more in this article:
  • Archiving or leaving chats: You can archive 1-1 / private chats or leave group channels. Currently, chats cannot be deleted. Learn more in this article:
  • Chat on mobile: The chat feature on the mobile app works nearly identically to the browser version of your platform. However, in the mobile app chat, you can also record and send voice messages and, if you use a white label app, block file uploads. Learn more in this article:

Permissions

These are the permissions related to the chat:

  • "Write and receive messages": Allows users to use chat on both the browser and mobile app version of Haiilo
  • "Manage system settings: Allows users to manage the System settings, which includes the Messaging settings
