Requiring user consent for embedded external videos

Admins can enable a consent prompt for embedded external videos from platforms such as YouTube and Vimeo. This means users need to explicitly consent to data exchange with the external platform before the video loads on Haiilo. This ensures that no tracking codes or cookies are loaded onto the external platform until the user gives consent.

Consent prompts appear on both the browser version of your platform and the mobile app.

How it works

If consent is required for externally embedded videos, a user will see this behavior:

  1. The user sees a consent message instead of the video preview when an embedded video appears in content on Haiilo. The message includes a link to Haiilo's privacy policy.
  2. If the user wants to view the video, they have to explicitly agree to data exchange between their browser and the external provider by selecting Load video.
  3. After consent, the user sees the video preview and can select Play as a second step to view the video.

Consent is required separately for each embedded video. Consent is also required again after a page reload and upon revisiting the page.
