Estimated reading time on blog articles

Estimated Reading Time on blog articles provides a helpful way to set expectations for how long it might take to read a blog article by showing a simple time estimate right at the beginning of each blog.

How Estimated Reading Time is calculated

  • Based on the article's plain-text word count (HTML excluded).
  • Uses an average reading speed of 200 words per minute.
  • Automatically recalculated whenever an article is created or edited.
  • Each language version has its own reading-time value.

Where Estimated Reading Time appears

Estimated Reading Time is displayed in these areas on both web and mobile platforms, unless specified otherwise:

  • Timeline shares of blog articles
  • Blog article overview
  • Blog article details (i.e., opening a blog article)
  • Mobile app: Recent Articles section on the mobile dashboard

Estimated Reading Time doesn't display in the Trending blog articles, Latest blog articles, or Single blog article widgets.
