Determining your home screen on mobile

You can select the home screen for your mobile app, meaning the first screen that will display for users when they open the mobile app. By default, the Dashboard is set as the home screen for the mobile app. You need "Manage features" permission to manage the home screen settings.

Regardless of which screen you choose as your mobile home screen, users will see a personalized greeting at the top, e.g., "Happy Friday, Jane". Additionally, both the home screen and the secondary screen display entry points to the user profile, search, and notifications.

Dashboard vs Timeline

We provide two options you can choose as your home screen:

  • Dashboard: This home screen is great for platforms that prioritize giving an easy overview and quick access to key and personalized information. Consider situations where users need to see a snapshot of the most important posts, upcoming events, and quickly access their pages and links. If your platform aims to provide a starting point that gives an overview of various content, then the Dashboard is probably the better choice.
  • Timeline: This home screen is ideal for platforms that focus on a chronological flow of information and updates. It's useful in situations where users want to keep up and interact with the latest news, discussions, or user-generated content being shared. If your platform is all about providing a constant stream of updates and promoting what's happening now, the Timeline is likely the best choice.

The screen you don't choose as your home screen will become the secondary screen, appearing as the second item in the mobile app navigation bar.

Select your home screen

  1. Go to Administration > Mobile > Home screen.
  2. Select the page you want to use as the home screen: Dashboard or Timeline.
  3. Select Save changes.
