Generally, once you publish a timeline post, you can edit the text as long as no user has reacted, commented, or shared it. However, once there is any engagement with the post, you will not be able to make further edits unless you have access to moderator mode.
This restriction is in place to ensure that the integrity of past discussions is maintained. By keeping the original content intact, it allows previous reactions and comments to stay relevant and meaningful.
You can bypass the editing restriction to allow your users to edit their posts even after they've received engagement by activating a setting in the Administration. Learn more below under Allow editing after engagement.
Edit a post
You can only edit the text of a timeline post, not any attached files or settings.
- Select > Edit.
- Make your adjustments to the text.
- Select Save.
Your post will be updated with your edits. An edited post shows a message stating "This post was edited {{time}}," for example, "This post was edited 20 minutes ago" to indicate it has been edited.
Allow editing after engagement
- Go to Administration > System settings > General settings.
- Check the box for Allow editing of Timeline Posts after interaction.
- Save the settings.
Users can now edit their own posts at any time, regardless of their publishing time or the level of engagement they've received.
