User metrics
Adoption
Tenant licenses |
The total number of licenses on your platform. |
Activated user accounts |
The total number of Active user accounts on your platform across all time. Learn more about account statuses in Understanding account statuses. |
Active users |
The total number of distinct users who have been active on your platform at least once over all time. Active is counted as having the platform open for a minimum of 3 seconds. In contrast to the other metric for "Active users", this one doesn't take any time period into account. |
Users
Active users |
The number of distinct users who were active on your platform during the time period. Active is counted as having the platform open for a minimum of 3 seconds. For page/community analytics, this metric is calculated as the total number of users who viewed content of a page/community. |
Viewing users |
The number of distinct users who viewed content from a page/community during the time period. This can include content viewed outside the page, e.g., on the timeline. Only shown in Page/Community details analytics. In contrast to the "Visitors" metric, "Viewing users" only considers views of timeline posts, blog articles, or wiki articles. |
Interacting users |
The number of distinct users who reacted to, commented on (also comment-on-comment), or shared content during the time period. Updating content is not counted. For page/community analytics, this metric is calculated as the total number of users who interacted with the content. |
Creating users |
The number of distinct users who created a timeline post, blog article, or wiki article during the time period. For page/community analytics, this metric is calculated as the total number of users who created content on the page/community. |
Targeted users |
The number of distinct users who were included in the selected audience for a studio post. This refers to the number of users to whom the post was sent. Only shown in Content details analytics for studio posts. |
Engaged users |
The number of users from a studio post's selected audience who engaged with it. Engagement is counted as commenting on or reacting to a post on the timeline, or reacting to a post on Slack or MS Teams. One interaction per user is counted. This number is also represented as a percentage of Targeted Users. If the post's audience contained 61 users, the engaged users metric for the post could, at maximum, be 61, meaning every targeted user engaged with the post at least once. Only shown in Content details analytics for studio posts. |
Activity/traffic
Average session length / usage duration |
The average time users spent on the platform/page/community/homepage/app during the time period. Calculated as the total duration of all active sessions divided by the number of active users during the time period. Only active sessions are taken into account, meaning the time when the application is actively being used rather than simply open in the background. |
Visits |
The number of non-unique visits during the time period. A visit is counted each time a user accesses or uses your platform for a minimum of 3 seconds. For pages, communities, and homepages, a visit is counted when a user opens a page/community/homepage. At the top of the page/community/homepage details analytics, the "Visits" metric counts the total all-time visits, regardless of time period. For "Visits" for apps, see Apps. |
Visitors |
The number of distinct users who opened a page/community/homepage during the time period. Each visitor is counted only once. In contrast to the "Viewing users" metric, "Visitors" considers both visits to timeline, blog, or wiki apps, and visits to other apps within a page/community. For "Visitors" for apps, see Apps. At the top of the page/community/homepage details analytics, the "Visitors" metric counts the total all-time visitors, regardless of time period. |
Content metrics
Content items
Timeline posts |
The number of timeline posts published during the time period. All posts are considered, including those created on user timelines. |
Blog articles |
The number of blog articles created during the time period. Blog articles are counted by creation, not publication, meaning drafts are counted. |
Wiki articles |
The number of wiki articles published during the time period. Drafts are not counted. |
Studio posts |
The number of studio posts created during the time period. Drafts are not counted. |
Newsletters |
The number of email newsletters created during the time period. Drafts are not counted. |
Impact
Sentiment |
An indicator of how positively or negatively a post is perceived, helping you understand the emotional tone of conversations on your platform. Comments and reactions are weighted and analyzed. For timeline posts, the content itself is also taken into account. Learn more in Analyzing Sentiment for your content. |
Impressions |
The number of times the content item was displayed anywhere during the time period, like on the timeline.. It counts every time the item loads on a user's screen, regardless of whether they actively viewed it. Impressions include when the same user sees the content multiple times. Applicable only for blog and wiki articles. |
Reach |
The number of users the content item was displayed to anywhere during the time period, like on the timeline, regardless of whether they actively viewed it. Reach is unique impressions, so impressions from the same user are only counted once. For studio posts, this number is also represented as a percentage of Targeted Users. Applicable for blogs, wiki articles, and studio posts. |
Views |
The number of times the full content item was fully loaded and viewed for over 2 seconds, including repeated views by the same user. "Full content item" is defined as, e.g., clicking the "Read more" button or opening a wiki article. For Documents apps, a view is counted when a user opens and views a file. |
Unique views |
The number of distinct users who fully loaded and viewed the full content item during the time period. This means how many distinct users have actually viewed a full content item. Repeated views by the same user are not counted. For newsletters, unique views refer to the number of distinct recipients who opened the email newsletter during the time period. An "open" is tracked when the recipient 1) opens the entire email AND 2) the images are loaded (either automatically or, if blocked, manually). |
Interaction
Comments |
The number of comments (including comments on comments) on any content during the time period. |
Reactions |
The number of reactions of any type on any content in the time period. Reactions to comments are excluded. Additionally, Teams and Slack reactions are not counted for studio posts. |
Shares |
The number of shares during the time period. For timeline posts, the initial creation doesn't count as a share. For page/community shares, only shares of content created on the page/community are counted, not shares targeted to the page/community. |
Engagement rate |
A score indicating the level of interaction on the content. Different interactions are assigned points: Like = 1x, Comment = 2.5x, or Share = 5x. The total is divided by reach and multiplied by 100. Example:
For page/community content engagement, engagement on shared items is counted only for the item's origin page/community, not for sharing to the target page/community. |
Confirmations |
The number of users from a studio post's selected audience who confirmed reading it. This metric is only calculated if read confirmation has been enabled for a studio post. This number is also represented as a percentage of Targeted users. If the post's audience contained 61 users, the read confirmation metric for the post could, at maximum, be 61, meaning every targeted user confirmed reading the post. Applicable only for studio posts. |
