Creating lists

Once you've set up a list app, you are ready to add and configure the fields for your list. You need to be an admin of the page or community to create the list.

Once a list is created, users can create, view, edit, or delete entries, based on your app's settings. List entries always include the user who created them, even if you don't include a name or email field in your list. List entries are never anonymous.

Create a list

  1. Select Add field
  2. Select a field type that best fits with your list's use case. You can see a table of available types below.
  3. Configure the selected field. All field types have the below four fields to fill out. Additionally, each field type has its own individual configuration settings, which are explained in the table.
    • Name: Enter a descriptive name for the field. The name is displayed when filling in the list and in the list entries view. This field is mandatory.
    • Required: Check if you want the field to be required to fill out in the list.
    • Hidden: Check if you want the field to be hidden in the list entries view. A hidden value is shown when opening the entry detail view or exporting the entire list of entries.
    • Description: Provide a description of the field. This description will be displayed above the field as help text to guide users when filling it in. This field is optional.
  4. Repeat the process to add the fields that your list needs. There is no limit to the number of fields your list can have. You can also add the same field type multiple times.

In the Configure fields view, you can reorder your field types by dragging and dropping. You can also edit or delete a field. If you delete a field, all its entries will be deleted as well.

Once a field is added, it is immediately included in the list and visible to users, as long as the app is activated. To see what your list looks like for users, select Back to view the completed list.
