Starting group chat channels

You can message multiple users by opening a group channel with them. When you create a group channel, you automatically become its admin. As the admin, you can edit the channel's name, add and remove members, and make other members into admins

Start a group channel

    1. In the chat list, select 
    2. Select Create a group channel
    3. Enter a name for your channel
    4. Search for users and select at least 2 to add to your channel
    5. Select Create channel to create the channel
    1. In the chat list, select   
    2. Select Create group channel
    3. Search for users and select at least 2 to add to your channel
    4. Select Next
    5. Enter a name for your channel
    6. Select Create to create the channel
    1. In the chat list, select  
    2. Select Create group channel
    3. Search for users and select at least 2 to add to your channel
    4. Select 
    5. Enter a name for your channel
    6. Select  to create the channel

Edit a group channel

    1. In the chat list, select the group channel
    2. Select > Edit
    3. You can:
      • Edit the channel name
      • Add new members by searching in the list and selecting them
      • Remove current members by selecting  
    4. Select Save changes to save your updates
    1. In the chat list, select the group channel
    2. Select the channel's name or
    3. You can:
      • Edit the channel name
      • Add new members by selecting Manage participants > selecting new users to add > Next
      • Remove current members by pressing on the user and selecting Remove
    4. Select Back to return to the chat
    1. In the chat list, select the group channel
    2. Select the channel's name or  > Details
    3. You can:
      • Edit the channel name
      • Add new members by selecting  > selecting new users to add > 
      • Remove current members by pressing on the user and selecting Remove
    4. Select  to return to the chat

Make another user an admin

    1. In the chat list, select the group channel
    2. Select  > Info & files
    3. Select  on the user you want to make an admin
    4. Select Make admin
    1. In the chat list, select the group channel
    2. Select the channel's name or  
    3. Press on the user you want to make an admin
    4. Select Make admin
    5. Select Back to return to the chat
    1. In the chat list, select the group channel
    2. Select the channel's name or    > Details
    3. Press on the user you want to make an admin
    4. Select Make admin
    5. Select  to return to the chat

If you need to change a user's admin status later, you can follow steps 1-3 and select Make member.

If the only admin of a group channel leaves, all other members are automatically promoted to admin. Learn more in Archiving or leaving chats.
