To improve the acceptance and reach of your page, you can translate its name and description into your users' preferred languages. A multi-language page further enables you to deliver certain content in multiple languages, ensuring that users can interact with your page in the language they feel most at ease with.
To provide a page name and description in multiple languages, you first need to acquire and activate the feature. Learn more in Activating additional multi-language features.
Activate languages for a page
- Go to your page
- In the Options box, select Settings
- Select Activate translations
- If you've already activated translations earlier, select the language selector > Config
- Choose a default language from your activated platform languages. Once the default language is set, it cannot be changed. The default language determines the language in which a user sees the page and content if it's not provided in their preferred language
- Check additional languages in which you want to provide the page. If needed, you can edit these later to add or remove a language
- Select Apply
After activating multi-language for a page, the Name and Description fields are highlighted with the flag of the current language version to signify that they are available for translation. You can now provide translations for these in the other languages.
Add translations
- In the Settings, select the language selector
- Select another language
- When you create a page in a new language for the first time, you are asked if you would like to copy the default language's information over to the new language. This makes it easier to remember the information in the default language for quick translation
- Define a translation for the name and description. All other settings remain the same for the page regardless of the language the user views it in
- Select Save to save and exit the settings, or repeat the above steps for another language
After adding translations for your page, you can also provide the content of certain apps in your selected languages. Learn more in Translating apps into other languages.
