Editing or duplicating wiki articles

You can edit or duplicate wiki articles within your wiki app. Editing allows for adjustments to an article's content or settings, while duplication creates a new article using an existing one as a template.

Depending on the app's publishing permissions, you may need to be an admin of the page or community to edit or duplicate wiki articles.

Edit a wiki article

When another user is editing an article, you will see a message stating, "This article is currently being edited by user X," and you won't be able to edit the article. This prevents multiple users from editing an article simultaneously and causing conflicts or data inconsistencies.

  1. Go to your wiki app
  2. Select > Edit on the article you want to edit
  3. Make changes to the content and settings of the article using the same options available during the article creation process
  4. Check Notify subscribers about this update if you want users to receive a notification about the article being updated
  5. Select Publish to save the updated article

If you select to notify subscribers, users who are subscribed to the page or community in which the wiki app is located are notified of the update. Otherwise, no notifications are sent. An edited wiki article displays an Updated label for 5 days.

An edited wiki article overwrites the previous version. If a user is currently viewing the article you edited, they will see a message saying, "You are viewing an older version of this article. Click here for the latest version," guiding them to the updated content. Despite the new version replacing the old one, you can still access the history of an article and go back to earlier versions if you need to. Learn more in Viewing wiki article histories.

Duplicate a wiki article

  1. Go to your wiki app
  2. Select > Duplicate on the article you want to duplicate

When you duplicate a wiki article, a new draft with the same content and settings is created. The title of the duplicated article will have "Copy of" added to the start of the original title to distinguish it from the original article. You can then edit the article to modify the content and publish it as needed.

When you duplicate a parent article, its sub-articles aren't duplicated.
