Archiving or deleting communities

As a community admin, you have the option to either archive or delete a community. When you archive a community, it and its content remain accessible to all users, whereas deleting a community completely removes it and its content. If you no longer need the community, it is recommended to delete it. However, if you want users to still be able to access its content, archiving the community is the better option.

Archive a community

An archived community displays an Archived label to signal to the user that it shouldn't be actively used.

  1. Go to the Communities overview > select your community
  2. In Options, select Settings
  3. Check Archive community
  4. Select Save

Users can still find the community by searching or filtering by Archived in the Communities overview. Users can also interact with the community as usual.

Delete a community

Deleting a community removes it and all apps and content associated with it. A deleted community cannot be restored.

  1. Go to the Communities overview > select your community
  2. In Options, select Settings
  3. Select Delete
  4. Check I confirm the deletion
  5. Select Delete community
